In the midst of some post-race blues I decided I needed a new challenge, one I was scared of, something I couldn’t say with certainty I would manage at the time of signing up. So that’s how I found myself on the start line of the Moors Traverse, running 80km across the North York Moors, despite having never run more than 36km before March (I wish I was joking but, alas, I am not).
I’ve always wanted to run a big ultra but I assumed my body couldn’t do it. I’ve been plagued by injuries for years and I couldn’t imagine ever being resilient enough to take on the 100km distance.
The Northern Traverse… this was the big one! The first event I ever worked on for Ourea Events, and the one I had my heart set on.
“Never in my wildest dreams did I believe that I would be able to run the Wainwright route from Coast2Coast and do all 300km in 59 hours.”
After a tough start to the race, read how Pascale managed to push on for a fantastic second half!
“The Northern Traverse was one hell of an event. The route is challenging in so many ways… Who knew that 48 hours of running could pass by so quickly?”
“The immersion in Nature throughout this journey was a powerful experience and created many fantastic memories.”
“A journey from coast to coast with excellent support and views to set your heart alight!”
I first heard of the Northern Traverse in 2018, I think. I heard about a foot race that crossed the country with minimal support and it went through the Lake District, the Dales and the Moors of Yorkshire. It intrigued me but there was no way I could do such a thing. How would I survive without an aid station every 10-12km. It scared me.
